It's been ages. Brief summary of my life over the last almost two years: got my license, moved my apartment, changed my job AGAIN, traveled to amazing countries and parts of the US, bought lots of pretty yarn. I have updated my yarn stash on ravelry (rav id: jyopatknots) with all of my yarns and which city they are a souvenir from. I haven't actually knitted that much though. I knit Jo Jo Bear a smoking jacket made from Tin Can Knits tutorial:
Doesn't he look stylish? He has a bit of a fascination with the 10th Doctor, too. |
I also made myself a couple of shawls, Glitz at the Ritz, and Nurmilintu. I have no idea where the photos went for Glitz at the Ritz. I'll need to fix that.
Now I want to use up some of this yarn I've bought! I bought some nice yellow worsted from Purl Soho, which I have decided to turn into a hat. I am making my own pattern, and I've also never made a hat, so we'll see how this goes! I am following the basic directions from Knitting Rules! by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (also, that reminds me, I won some yarn through Karmic Rebalancing! It was very exciting! and it's a beautiful silk blend yarn). I will have approximately 2" of ribbed brim, and then one of these NINE (9, count 'em) patterns I haven't decided which one yet, or if I'll only use one, or anything. I just have a thought to maybe take some of the ribbing up all the way to the crown, to separate the cable or lace pattern I end up using. Hmm. Anyway, see below for stitches that are interesting me today, sideways and all (all of them come from The Harmony Guide to Knitting, a book I purchased at Half Price Books in Sugar Land.)
Based on how incredibly difficult it was for me to upload those photos, and I can't rotate them, I may be looking for a new blog host here shortly. this is such a antiquated program!
Anyway, off to swatch! Hopefully I'll have progress once a week on this blog as well! :)
